I have been wanting to do all of these write ups for a while now but have been extremely busy with work, flight training, and college. I will condense all areas and give a short right up for each event with dates.... SOLO: Had my first solo February 26th of this year in a Cessna 172. The CFI and I went up for about 45 minutes to make sure I had all the maneuvers and procedures down. He then had me land and pull up to the flight school. I always read stories about the CFI just 'getting out' but ... I passed my CFI checkride on 9-29-2020. It certainly was the most thorough, detail-oriented, and challenging checkride I've experienced so far, but there were no surprises and the examiner was very fair in his evaluation. All in all, the oral stretched out to about 6 hours, then 1.4 Hobbs during the flight portion. Please excuse this mess of a write-up, I'm just awful at writing and suck even more at telling stories, but I'll try my best to describe the checkride. We covered a *lot* of ...
On August 27, 2019, about 1835 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 172 airplane, N4108F, was destroyed following impact with trees during climbout at Mc Kenzie Bridge State Airport (00S), Mc Kenzie Bridge, Oregon. The private pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was registered to a private individual and operated by LebanAir Aviation as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed for the loc...

One thing I wished I had when training was a set of questions to review to prepare me for my checkride. When I was a student pilot, I had trouble translating the ACS into questions I could be asked. Because of this, I figured I'd try to help the community out and make an addition to the subreddit's wiki, so that future students browsing have a bit of a better idea on what to expect. This is not comprehensive by any means, and I was hoping to have additional contributions by anyone who wants to... TL;DR \- 11 months, 67.3 hours, 5 CFIs, 4 C\-172s I took and Passed my PPL ASEL checkride today. So I've always wanted to be a pilot as long as I can remember, when I was a kid, I would say I want to be a pilot when I grow up. I enlisted in the USAF with the intention of working airplanes, but I got a computer job instead. In 1993 I took my first flight in a Cessna 172, it was supposed to be a sight seeing flight with my girlfriend. I had every intention of starting training but it didn't wor... Hello, I was looking at the light aeroplanes (cessna 172 as an example) electrical diagram from the alternator to the battery. From what I can found, the battery is connected to the bus bar. So my question would be, what component is used to protect the battery from overcharge and where is it in the circuit diagram?
Cessna 172 diagram. Someone suggested I post this here. Back Story: I got my private pilot license a few weeks back. I've been wanting to fly into Indianapolis International Airport (aka KIND) for a few months, and I've been talking to my flight instructor about it for a while. It's more complicated than flying into a small airport and requires a bit of planning. The approach, tower and ground controllers fire instructions at you fast, and you have to be on your game, as to not make an ass of yourself. Fast Forw... I finished the practical exam yesterday! I'll do a full writeup here later, but I wanted to share the excitement with all of you first. Happy to answer questions from students and CFIs as well! http://imgur.com/a/LvAZc Edit for the writeup: I'm going to use a format that hopefully others can take advantage of in the future, so please feel free to steal this. - **Home training airport/school:** Hixson Aviation, located at Dallas Bay - **CFI:** Tom Bowen - **Aircraft flown during training:** ... ##[World News](/r/worldnews/) **Jared Kushner 'justified murder of Saudi dissident journalist Khashoggi, calling him a terrorist'** [Comments](https://redd.it/buyqnp) | [Link](https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2019/5/30/kushner-justified-khashoggis-murder-calling-him-a-terrorist?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=sf&fbclid=IwAR0MhXmHUfrN718_7zlcsgUT7QJpOqxcU6AScdmh8nrfGot0qqQAmbnL5Io) **Russia Deployed Its Trolls to Cover Up the Murder of 298 People on ... That is what my DPE said to me while taxiing back. I thought it was a real nice thing for him to say. Then I told him I'm hoping to fly for Alaska... But really, that quote sums up my DPE - very cool guy, I felt extremely comfortable and this was by far the most enjoyable checkride of the 3 I've done. To ATP pilot who said my IR written write-up was long... I dedicate this to you :) (here is the IR written post: https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/comments/3cyps7/passed_ir_written_today_90_after_...

After an incredible two year long journey, 110 hours, [major global event] delays, two airports, and three flight instructors, I finally punched my ticket for the sky two weeks ago in a Cessna 172 G1000. I am not bound for the airlines but merely a “big fan” of aviation that always dreamed of being able to fly. I wanted to write this story in the hopes that whatever delays you may be facing, whatever you may be struggling with in the plane or on the ground, and whatever stress you may have about... We will be performing our flight out of Archerfield Airport on the morning of Saturday 23 June, departing at approximately 0900 (UTC+10). The aircraft type is a Cessna 172S with registration VH-KIT. After watching several hours of intro, training, and procedure tutorials, I'm at the point where I'm unsure if the issues I've encountered are just me not grasping the concept or if they are bug/software related. If someone more knowledgeable could give me a hint it would be greatly appreciated. The issues are as follows: 1. After take-off, verifying that the flight-plan is loaded, the cruise alt is set and NAV is selected, when pressing AP, the plane turns to right heading, but immediately nos...
I've been doing a decent amount of research for a story lately, and I've had to look up a decent amount of miscellaneous stuff. I've never really had to do this kind of research before, so every time I look up some weird specific thing about space or planes or something and a solution just comes right up I'm shocked. I had to figure out what the inside of a nebula looks like. It took literally two google searches to find a solid artist's rendition based off of an article that som... I'm a canadian pilot and tonight I had a situation which I'm trying to figure out if I handled incorrectly. I was landing a Cessna 172 on a runway with two taxiways at the end, the diagram attached shows how the taxiways intersect. A Dash-8 was taking a long time exiting the runway on Delta, but got off in time for me to land on the runway. Neither of us got taxi clearance at the time of the situation, which is pictured in the image. [Situation Diagram](https://imgur.com/cWoqFUk) After I wa... Context: I went from X-Plane → 1/2 of IRL training → RONA → X-Plane so I’m going to write a guide that I was looking for when I first started simming last fall before going to IRL training. I’m writing this as a follow-up to my [hardware post](https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/fyq3lk/my_list_of_recommended_hardware_for_an_authentic/) I’m going to assume you have a similar configuration to what I suggested.
